because of their awareness of sin. The embodiment of shame and attempt to cover the body with leaves is just a small window into how sin later affects Adam and Eve’s family. The important conclusion here is that their bodies reflect their relationship with God and they had to hide from his face. Using some imagination, one writer notes: “How awful it had been to face the Lord God when he had found them! How hard to look him in the face! And yet he has given them clothes to wear.”11
